Just to the north of Callander is a rocky escarpment known as the Callander Crags which overlooks the town. There is a wonderful and exhilarating walk up and along the crags giving you commanding views over Callander and the surrounding countryside. Starting from the Callander Crags car park you follow the trail west and then up the steep wooded trail to the top of the crags. At the top turn right and this brings you in a short distance to the peak at 343m which is marked with a large stone cairn.
To return, follow the trail along the length of the crags which then slowly descends back down to Callander and then skirts the hillside back to the car park where you started. We noticed many fallen trees on this return trail, probably a results of one of the many large storms which hit Scotland recently.
