Sky Mirror, Kuala Selangor, Malaysia

Just west of Kuala Selangor, Malaysia in the Malacca Strait is a wonderful phenomenon known as Sky Mirror – a small sand bar that appears only on low tides around the 1st and 15th day of the lunar cycle and 4 days either side of these dates. Taking a fast boat from Kuala Selangor it takes about 30 minutes or so to reach the Sky Mirror and here you can get out of the boat and capture some wonderful photos with the unique reflections you get in the low lying water on the sand bar with the blue sky above. It feels strange to be out in the middle of the ocean standing on a small sandy island with nothing around you. This location can get quite busy with tour boats so you have to be creative to capture your photos without the straggling tourists in the background. The boatman on these trips can setup some creative shots for you to maximise the reflections.
