Lenggong is an interesting small town located in Lenggong Valley 80km north of Ipoh in Perak, Malaysia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Town. Lenggong Valley is a unique and important area for archaeology with excavations revealing many traces of Malaysia’s pre-history including the 11,000 year old Perak Man, the best preserved and oldest human skeleton found in Malaysia.
In Lenggong you can also experience unique and traditional kampung style cooking. The small wooden stall of Loh Dee Wan Ton Mee serves up traditionally prepared char siew wanton mee cooked over a hot fire of rubber tree logs.
The small stall is run by two friendly locals, one prepares the char siew and the other one cooks the noodles. The hot fire used to cook is from local rubber tree logs from their farm and it takes a lot of skill to maintain the optimum heat for consistent cooking.
This place is a popular place every morning for the locals getting their fix of noodles and is a real culinary treat taking you back to those nostalgic days and the traditional kampung style of cooking.
