At last, after around one and a half years, we managed to take my mother’s ashes up to her final resting place on the Gruinard River in Wester Ross, Scotland at the same location where we laid my father’s ashes some 11 years ago. After she passed away in October 2020 we were unable to take her ashes to this location due to the ongoing pandemic travel restrictions at that time.

It was a perfect day. We had almost all the family join us to trek up the river to the specific location and had a small ceremony on the banks of the river and scattered her ashes in the river in the same way we had done 11 years ago with my father’s ashes. We also laid a small geocache box next to my father’s geocache with some small items of my mother’s personal items to commemorate the occasion.
This was the perfect final farewell for my mother who joins my father in this very special part of the country that they both loved.
