Canadian Rockies Road Trip – Banff Gondola and Sulphur Mountain

During our visit to Banff we took a trip up Sulphur Mountain in the Banff Gondola which is located just 5 minutes from town. The glass gondola whisks you up from 1583m at the gondola base to 2281m at the gondola summit at the top of the mountain where you get incredible panoramic views of the mountain ranges.

At the gondola summit it was very cold, just above freezing so you had to be well wrapped up.

Looking down we could clearly see the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and the Banff Springs Golf Course below.

We followed the wooden boardwalk from the cable car station at the top of Sanson’s peak where there is a cosmic ray observatory.

The views in all directions are truly magnificent and you can see 6 mountain ranges and the large Bow Valley below.
