Europe Road Trip – Day 5 – Brekenried, Switzerland to Innsbruck, Austria

In September 2008 we did a circular road trip around Europe starting in Frankfurt, Germany and travelling through Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic and finally back to Frankfurt Germany.

After another evening in Breckenried we headed east again heading for Innsbruck in Austria.

Vaduz, Liechtenstein

We made a brief stop in Vaduz, Liechtenstein where we saw a naked lady and a blue and red cow! And we saw the castle on the hill!

Then it was through the beautiful mountains and on towards Innsbruck.

Innsbruck, Austria

Our hotel in Innsbruck, Hotel Mondschein, was ideally situated right next to the river and a short walk from the city centre.

The streets in Innsbruck were very colourful with painted murals on the buildings and baskets of flowers decorating the windows and balconies.

In one square we came across a lady acting as a statue and dressed up in old costume and painted in black & white which was very well done.

Many of the small streets and squares were just walking streets but on the larger main streets there were old trams running through the city.

In one building we got up a few floors and onto the roof where we could get a good panoramic view of the city with the stunning mountains as a backdrop.

That evening we had a special meal at the Schoneck Restaurant as it was my wife’s birthday and she got a chance to wear the beautiful Swarovski crystal pendant I had bought here at a jewellery shop in town earler that day. An excellent end to a wonderful day.
