Queenstown is a town in the West Coast region of the island of Tasmania, Australia. It is in a valley on the western slopes of Mount Owen on the West Coast Range. At the 2016 census, Queenstown had a population of 1,755 people.


I had a pre-conceived idea that Queenstown in Tasmania would be a nice town to visit on the way from Strahan to Tarraleah, probably based on my visit to Queenstown in New Zealand many years ago. I was somewhat disappointed with Queenstown which seemed a bit of a run-down abandoned town.


It had a few interesting buildings including the historic Hunters Hotel which apparently is being restored and reopened.



We spotted a few good wall murals which brightened the place up.




We stopped to buy some snacks at the Cafe Serenade and going inside was like going back in time to the
