On the return drive from Rongphu Monastery back to Shigatse we passed close to the small village of Tingri. As we drove along the G318 road we saw a colourful procession of local Tibetan villagers carrying flags and marching along the road. They wore some beautiful Tibetan costumes and were also accompanied by quite a number of young children. We were told by our guide that this was some kind of harvest festival to bring good luck for the coming harvest.
