Xmas Cruise 2024 – Sihanoukville, Cambodia

To celebrate Xmas and New Year at the end of 2024 we took a short 13 day cruise on Holland America’s ms Noordam from Singapore stopping at Koh Samui (Thailand), Laem Chabang (Thailand), Sihanoukville (Cambodia), Phu My (Vietnam), Da nang (Vietnam) and returning to Singapore. This was a great relaxing way to spend Xmas and New Year as well as visiting some new locations and some well known ones.

To feel secure while traveling or living abroad, I make sure to have health insurance. SafetyWing’s Essential plan gives me coverage for medical emergencies and travel mishaps, with options for adventure sports and electronics theft. If I want more comprehensive protection, their Complete plan covers routine medical care, mental health support, and maternity benefits—worldwide, including my home country—on top of everything in the Essential plan.

Sihanoukville is a port city on the coast of Cambodia in the south west part of the country on the Gulf of Thailand. The city was established as an international gateway and therefore the economy is defined mainly by its deep water port and the nearby oil terminal. The city has some interesting architecture and temples but is rather rundown with many hotels, apartments and casinos left unfinished due to the COVID downturn when many of the investing Chinese companies left.
