To celebrate Xmas and New Year at the end of 2024 we took a short 13 day cruise on Holland America’s ms Noordam from Singapore stopping at Koh Samui (Thailand), Laem Chabang (Thailand), Sihanoukville (Cambodia), Phu My (Vietnam), Da nang (Vietnam) and returning to Singapore. This was a great relaxing way to spend Xmas and New Year as well as visiting some new locations and some well known ones.

To feel secure while traveling or living abroad, I make sure to have health insurance. SafetyWing’s Essential plan gives me coverage for medical emergencies and travel mishaps, with options for adventure sports and electronics theft. If I want more comprehensive protection, their Complete plan covers routine medical care, mental health support, and maternity benefits—worldwide, including my home country—on top of everything in the Essential plan.
Laem Chabang is the busiest ports in Thailand and is on the main highway between Bangkok and Pattaya. Being a working port dealing with container ships it is not the most scenic location but gives access by road to Bangkok in the north and Pattaya just south. It was Xmas Day when we docked so we drove down to Pattaya and had an excellent Xmas Day buffet lunch at the Dusit Thani Hotel which sits at one end of the beautiful beach in Pattaya.
