Situated on Cardigan Bay, Aberystwyth is a university and seaside town in Ceredigion, Wales. It is the largest town in Ceredigion and has been a major educational location in Wales since the University College Wales (now Aberystwyth University) was established in 1872.
The main focus of the promenade and seafront is Marine Terrace with its Victorian and Edwardian architecture and hotels. The Victorian pier was built in 1864 and was once 242 metres in length but due to a number of storms is now only 90 metres in length.
