100 Year Forest, Pemberton, WA, Australia

Close to Pemberton in Western Australia is a forest area that was cleared in the 1860’s for growing wheat then following a bush fire in the 1870’s it was left for nature to reclaim. This karri forest is a now a living demonstration of how karri forest can regenerate into a diverse and mature forest having been completely cleared. The trees are now over 130 years old. There is a short 1km loop trail called the Wheat Field Loop which is a great walk and lets you appreciate the beauty and grandeur of these magnificent trees.
