Quinta da Foz, Foz do Arelho, Portugal

The 16th-century old farmhouse, Quinta da Foz, was an interesting place to stay. Situated in Foz do Arelho on the west coast of Portugal this old house is steeped in history as explained to us by the owner Francisco Paiva Calado. The grounds of Quinta da Foz are extensive and surrounded by large stone walls with beautiful mature trees surrounding the building offering welcome shade from the sun. Francisco and his family lives in a smaller building to the rear of the main farmhouse and he rents out 3 bedrooms in the building.

The inside of the farmhouse is like a museum with period pieces of furniture and a variety of paintings and antiquities. At one corner of the building is an incredible ancient private chapel.
