This book combines a photographic journal of 3 road trips to South West Scotland; a visit to Tarbert in the Kintyre Peninsula, a trip out to the Isle of Arran and a visit to Dumfries & Galloway.
From Tarbert on the Kintyre Peninsula I visited the small village of Crinan, the Crinan Canal waterway and an incredible ancient standing stone circle known as Temple Wood close to Kilmartin. On the western side of the Kintyre Peninsula there were some interesting old shipwrecks abandoned on the edge of Loch West Tarbert which made for some great images.
In 2019 I made a trip to the Isle of Arran and drove around the island over a few days to enjoy some of the sights of this beautiful and unspoiled part of Scotland. From Brodick the route took me around the island in a counterclockwise direction visiting Lagg, Kilmory, Blackwaterfoot, Torbeg, Pirnmill, Lochranza and Brodick.
Having never visited Dumfries & Galloway before I spent a week in June 2017 at a small rental farm cottage just outside Newton Stewart and explored this region which had great forest walks, castles, waterfalls, small villages, an incredible old pack horse bridge, lighthouses, fascinating wildlife and some great local seafood to enjoy.
On the return journey I made a very interesting visit to the Kagyu Samye Ling Buddhist Monastery and Tibetan Centre at Eskdalemuir.
With maps, images and descriptive text highlighting the many locations and sights this book should inspire you to make a visit to Scotland and explore this incredible region.
