Nostalgic China 1997 – Beijing – Summer Palace

We took a family trip to Beijing in August of 1997and visited a few of the famous landmarks in this great city.

The Summer Palace, is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in Beijing. It was an imperial garden in the Qing Dynasty. Mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, it covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometres, three-quarters of which is water.

Since our last visit to Beijing there were a few changes at the Summer Palace with a reproduction old village with canals.

These photos were captured on a Canon film camera and the negatives subsequently scanned and then post processed in Capture One Pro. The image quality in many cases is poor as many of the negatives were damaged by heat and humidity over time.
