In June 2013 we went on a Mediterranean cruise departing from Venice to Barcelona. So before boarding the cruise ship we took a road trip around the northern part of Italy starting from Venice and covering Treviso, Vicenza, Verona, Milan, Parma, Bologna, and Ferrara.
The photographs taken during this road trip had been processed but never fully published so I have taken the opportunity to re-process these photos using the latest CaptureOnePro software system. I am always amazed when I go back through my photo catalogue and do some re-processing as I can usually get so much more out of the original RAW images using the most up to date software as well as my much improved processing workflow.

Verona is a city in northern Italy’s Veneto region, with a medieval old town built between the meandering Adige River. It’s famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” A 14th-century residence with a tiny balcony overlooking a courtyard is said be “Juliet’s House.” The Verona Arena is a huge 1st-century Roman amphitheater, which currently hosts concerts and large-scale opera performances.

Two of William Shakespeare’s plays are set in Verona: Romeo and Juliet and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. It is unknown if Shakespeare ever visited Verona or Italy, but his plays have lured many visitors to Verona and surrounding cities. The city has been declared aWorld Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its urban structure and architecture.
