Lunch & Learn at Aji Wa, Cunard M.S. Queen Anne

What a wonderful way to pass the time during one of the many sea days we had while crossing the Indian Ocean from Penang to Mauritius on the M.S. Queen Anne – a sushi, sashimi and sake pairing lunch at the Aji Wa Japanese restaurant. This is the very first Japanese restaurant on any Cunard ship.

Along with a multi-course lunch we sampled a selection of sakes to match each course. The big surprise was the two Cunard sakes – we found out that Cunard have invested in a rice field in Japan and are producing their very own sake. Another unique sake we tasted was a draft sake, served from a large keg, and this was slightly carbonated as the fermentation was still in process. The sakes were all excellent and well chosen and presented by the Wine & Spirit Educator Chef de Cuisine as was the food prepared by a Japanese chef in charge of the kitchen.
