Driving from Lake Como, Italy the road took us up a steep mountain pass with multiple switchbacks till we reached the alpine plateau where St. Moritz, Switzerland was located. The Autumn tree colours were wonderful and with the stunning snow-capped mountains made for a really beautiful landscape to appreciate.
St. Moritz is a luxury alpine resort town in Switzerland’s Engadin valley and lies on the southern slopes of the Albula Alps below the Piz Nair (3,056 m) overlooking the flat and wide glaciated valley of the Upper Engadine and eponymous lake: Lake St. Moritz. It has hosted the Winter Olympics twice, has the Cresta Run, a world-championship bobsled run made of natural ice, and an outdoor Olympic ice rink. Its frozen lake hosts polo, cricket and even horse racing on ice. Ski and snowboard areas include Corviglia, Diavolezza and Corvatsch, and there are well-groomed cross-country ski trails.
