Close to Aberfoyle in Scotland at the foothills of Ben Lomond is Loch Ard Forest which has extensive network of trails for walking or cycling and where you can enjoy the beauty of this wonderful scenic area. The forest has a large array of wildlife and plant life including deer, capercaillie, red squirrels, osprey and woodpeckers. Along the trails you can also see a number of unique sculptures. Loch Ard is a picturesque loch and some of the trails run along the banks of the loch giving you some stunning viewpoints. The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park encompasses Loch Ard and the surrounding forest.
On the banks of Loch Ard there is apparently a cave that Rob Roy MacGregor hid in while trying to evade capture by the Duke of Montrose’s men. This is one of a few caves where Rob Roy was meant to have hidden.

Superb photos of an astonishingly beautiful place. I know Aberfoyle – not well but I have been there a few times. Time that I went back 🙂
