Gairloch is a small village sitting on the shores of Loch Gairloch in Wester Ross, in the north west Highlands of Scotland. This area has some fantastic scenery and is a great base to explore this region. The village has a number of hotels and restaurants where you can sample the local food and seafood is fairly prevalent in all the menus. We stayed at a fabulous bed and breakfast, The Old Schoolhouse, in Strath and this had a most comfortable room and a tremendous breakfast.
There are a variety of shops in Gairloch, a great coffee place, the Mountain Coffee Company and a small local radio station, Two Lochs Radio. There is also golf course at the south end of the village. Just around the coast a highly recommended visit is Badachro which sits in a very scenic spot and has a great restaurant, The Badachro Inn, again specialising in local seafood.
