Porto, Portugal

Porto, also known as Oporto, is the second largest city in Portugal after Lisbon. Sitting on the Douro River, Porto the historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and this area dates back many centuries when it was an outpost of the Roman Empire.

The most famous export of Portugal is port wine and along the banks of the River Douro in Porto you can still see many of the port wine storage cellars and some of the old boats which transported the port from the vineyards of the upper Douro Valley.

Walking around the many cobbled streets of Porto you can see the stunning architecture with some fabulous colourful wall murals.
