In July 2003 we made a trip to Italy starting with a few days in the capital of Rome and then exploring Tuscany. All the images here were made with my original Canon D30 digital camera (the very first digital SLR from Canon) sporting a 3.1 MPixel sensor! It’s still satisfying to be able to reprocess these images with the latest software and get some pretty decent results.
Castellina in Chianti is a comune of c. 2,800 inhabitants in the province of Siena, in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 35 kilometres south of Florence and about 15 kilometres northwest of Siena. It is part of the Chianti Hills, between the valleys of the Arbia, Pesa and Elsa rivers.
The city’s origins go back to Etruscan times of which there are many visible remains to explore both in the excavations at the well marked archeological sites and in the Archeological museum in the city center.
