In early January during a visit to Scotland, we took a few days down in the Borders to explore an area that I had never visited before. We stayed in Jedburgh which was a great centre to head out and do some walks in this wonderful countryside.



We did a pleasant walk at Harestanes starting at the Harestanes Countryside Visitor Centre car park and following a path through the fields and woods behind Monteviot House and up into the forestry roads at Woodside.














After walking through many of the paths through the woodland we headed down towards the River Teviot. We followed part of the famous St Cuthbert’s Way walk. St Cuthbert’s Way is a











There was a fabulous cable pedestrian bridge over the River Teviot giving us some good views of the river.






On the return path, we skirted around the beautiful gardens of Monteviot House on the banks of the river. Monteviot House is the early 18th century home of the Marquess of Lothian, the politician better known as Michael Ancram.
