Tibetan Market, Shigatse, Tibet

We stopped for a one night stay in the city of Shigatse, Tibet which is Tibet’s second-largest town and the traditional capital of Tsang province. We made a brief visit to the small Tibetan Market in the middle of the city. Here there were a variety of stalls selling local handicrafts, clothing and jewellery.

It was interesting to see the locals at this market all wearing traditional Tibetan clothes which were very colourful and stylish. The ladies all seemed to favour a variety of stylish hats.

I watched some of the stall owners making jewellry by threading coloured beads and stones onto a string.

Just on the outside of the market were a number of stalls selling dried lamb carcasses which did not look appetising in the least.
