The newly opened international airport in Phnom Penh is quite stunning with it’s beautiful internal design and well laid out functionality. The new airport is located about 20-25km south of the city and has replaced the old Phnom Penh International Airport. The new airport was operation starting in September 2025 and is designed to handle large aircraft and millions of passengers. Covering 2,600 hectares this is one of the largest airports in the world. The design of the airport was by Foster & Partners and features a modern sustainable design inspired by Cambodian culture and architecture with lots of natural light and greenery.
