Xmas Cruise 2024 – Vũng Tàu, Vietnam

To celebrate Xmas and New Year at the end of 2024 we took a short 13 day cruise on Holland America’s ms Noordam from Singapore stopping at Koh Samui (Thailand), Laem Chabang (Thailand), Sihanoukville (Cambodia), Phu My (Vietnam), Da nang (Vietnam) and returning to Singapore. This was a great relaxing way to spend Xmas and New Year as well as visiting some new locations and some well known ones.

To feel secure while traveling or living abroad, I make sure to have health insurance. SafetyWing’s Essential plan gives me coverage for medical emergencies and travel mishaps, with options for adventure sports and electronics theft. If I want more comprehensive protection, their Complete plan covers routine medical care, mental health support, and maternity benefits—worldwide, including my home country—on top of everything in the Essential plan.

From Phu My it was a short drive to Vung Tau, a town I had visited many years ago during my oil & gas career, so it was good to see how the place had developed. The streets were organised with well manicured trees along the roads so it had come a long way to the town I remembered.

After a welcome coffee stop at a very nice cafe overlooking the sea we explored the small Vung Tau lighthouse and then a beautiful Buddhist temple (Tịnh xá Ngọc Hương)on the road leading down from the lighthouse.
