We spent 2 full days at Kruger National Park which was approximately one hour’s drive south of Tremisana Safari Lodge. Kruger Park is certainly the most famous of Africa’s wildlife reserves and has many different ecozones with a huge diversity of animals. The park is approximately 330km long north to south and about 50 km wide. and has over 20,000 square km of surface area.
The roads through this vast park are good, many of them tarmac, allowing you to cover a large area. After getting our passes at the Orpen Gate we headed in through the most southerly portion of the park. We spent all day driving around various locations stopping for lunch at the excellent restaurant facilities at Satara within the park which had a surprisingly good menu. During our drives we saw many of the animals including chameleon, impala, wildebeest (gnu),zebra, roller bird, lions, kudu, giraffe, wild dogs, elephants, baboons, stork, ostrich, waterbuck, guineafowl, vulture, secretary bird, warthog, and rhinoceros.
