Santorini is a stunning island located in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 kilometers southeast of mainland Greece. It is part of the Cyclades archipelago and is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, breathtaking sunsets, and unique architecture.

Santorini is the result of a massive volcanic eruption that occurred around 3,600 years ago, which shaped the island’s iconic caldera (a large crater formed by the collapse of a volcano). The caldera is surrounded by steep cliffs, offering spectacular views of the deep blue sea and the neighbouring islands.

The island is famous for its Cycladic architecture, characterised by whitewashed buildings with blue-domed churches, narrow cobblestone streets, and charming courtyards. The villages of Oia and Fira are particularly picturesque, with their cliffside homes and stunning vistas. Santorini is home to the ancient Minoan site of Akrotiri, a well-preserved prehistoric settlement buried under volcanic ash, often compared to Pompeii. The island also has a fascinating history tied to the Minoan civilization and its connection to the legend of Atlantis.
