The Temple Bar, Dublin

The Temple Bar pub is one of the most famous old bars in the heart of Dublin in Ireland. It sits in the Temple Bar area which is the section of Dublin on the south side of the River Liffey. The area is bounded by the Liffey to the north, Dame Street to the south, Westmoreland Street to the east and Fishamble Street to the west. Unlike other parts of Dublin’s city centre, it is promoted as Dublin’s cultural quarter and has a lively nightlife that is popular with tourists. Popular venues include The Palace Bar, The Temple Bar Pub, Oliver St. John Gogarty’s and The Auld Dubliner.

The inside of the pub is usually very crowded with a number of different rooms and bars to serve the many customers. We were very lucky to get a couple of seats at the front window in the small front bar giving us the opportunity to street watch as we supped our Guinness. There was live music being played by a small group through in the back bar.

In the back bar area are a couple of famous statues of the famous Irish author and poet, James Joyce.
